It’s Christmas Again!! (and maybe it’s time to re-think our values)
My mom used to say that as you get older-life goes faster and to enjoy it while I’m able. I try to do this every day.
I’m now approaching the infamous “5-0” and I see, even more so now, how we are all caught up in the fast-paced consumerism lifestyle and I have to say this out loud, “Why? Why is it so important for all these gifts under the tree, why is it such a priority to have the most ‘this’ or the biggest ‘that’?” What if we thought about this time of year like we have never before? What if we found out we had the power to prolong someone’s life? What if we could give the gift of a ‘quality’ life? A gift that is priceless to some people. What if we could really do that? Would you help them?
As we get older, our values change, our priorities change, and the direction of our life sometimes, changes too. Usually it’s an event that encompasses a loss and we ask ourselves how could we have helped it to have never have happened.
My passion lies somewhere in there. In that deep desire to share the knowledge and passion associated with teaching others about a disease-free, pain-free, inspiring life through eating right. I help people harness that power through food choices, classes and online education.
A very special motto I use for my emails goes like this, “Most people work hard and spend their health trying to achieve wealth. Then they retire and spend their wealth trying to get back their health.” This says it all. We spend our entire lives chasing the idea that living the dream of wealth is what is of utmost importance and then we realize that if we don’t have our health, we cannot enjoy any of our wealth. We cannot enjoy our spouses, our children, our grandchildren, our hobbies, our homes, our cats or dogs, …our LIVES!
This Christmas Season, LettuceLove Cafe and Kelly’s Bake Shoppe are promoting the “Gift of Health”. By following our website, my blog or coming into our bakery, you will get some great ideas for Christmas. All of our baked goods are non-processed, free of saturated fats, free of refined sugars, no GLUTEN, eggs or dairy either. We believe that, “You are what you Eat”, so this Christmas, make yours healthy and inspiring.
Well said, Kelly!
Too bad that we have to live so long to finally realize what is REALLY important in life.
I have posted the link to your blog on my Facebook page & I hope that my friends will heed your wise words. The greatest gift that we can give, or receive, is the gift of good HEALTH! <3
