With great humbleness and gratitude, I’m announcing that I’ve been chosen to be the Keynote Speaker for the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, Mayor’s Luncheon, on November 22. This is a profound honour for me in many ways in this very dominated, patriarchal culture. I must admit, when I was first asked by Keith Hoey, President of the Chamber, I was shocked. I thought he had called this meeting with me to ask for the typical cupcake donation for an event (that happens more often then not in our industry). To find out that this honour, in previous years, had been bestowed upon the likes of the President and CEO of Ford, President of Union Gas and more heavy hitters, I went into absolute break-down mode.
