Why You Should Try Vegan And Gluten Free Recipes Today

Food can do more than just nourish you physically. With the right food, you can also revitalize your mind and energize your soul. It’s not just about good tasting food — although that certainly helps a lot. But your breakfasts, lunches, mealtimes in between, and dinners should always make you feel good.

While reaching out for that addictive salty bag of chips or that deep-fried, greasy bacon every day sounds like a fine idea, in practice, it can wreak havoc on your health and wellbeing. The overload of salt can produce excess sodium that increases your risk for stroke and heart disease. Not only that, high levels of sodium can also cause bloating, make your face look puffy, and give you bags under your eyes.

Meanwhile, fried and greasy foods are also high in fat and can lead to increased cholesterol levels and weight gain, which then puts you at risk for other health-related issues such as diabetes, degenerative arthritis, fatty liver, sleep apnea, and more.

So instead of going out to eat salty, fried, greasy foods, you can shop for good ingredients and use vegan and gluten free recipes to create healthier versions of what you love to eat. Sound impossible?

With the Internet giving you more access to better information, finding the right recipes for healthier and tastier versions of your favourite dishes is not only possible, but it could also save you costly trips to the doctor. All you have to do is look for the right resource, get all your ingredients in advance, and never be afraid to fail at the first try — all budding vegan chefs have to start somewhere.

sweet potato chipsYou can start with something simple and delightful — like homemade BAKED potato chips, but without the heavy salt. The good news is that potatoes are naturally gluten-free. You’ll just need to gather up the right ingredients to make your chips flavourful, and get the right technique to come up with the perfect texture.

Some potato chip recipes even use sweet potatoes because it’s got lower carbs and other recipes call for baking the chips instead of frying it. Although if you prefer to fry, use extra virgin olive oil because it can add more flavour and it’s healthier than most oils.

There are also certain ingredients like organic mushrooms (portobello to shiitake) that have the texture, faintly, of meat so you can use them to create vegan versions of, for instance, meatloaf or veggie burgers. You can also use certain unprocessed nuts and seeds to add texture as well as levels of delicious flavour.

Going vegan and eliminating gluten from your diet doesn’t have to be abrupt. You can take it one meal at a time, if you like. But keep in mind the favourable impact that this change in your diet will have on your health and wellbeing. And when you’re ready to take that step, lots of healthy, plant-based, gluten-free, and tasty recipes await you.

  1. Great tips for those of us who love to crunch! I personally like the baked sweet potato chips with Himalayan sea salt and a dash of Chipotle. Yum!
