Erinn's Lessons

July 31, 2017

I’m Kelly.
Over a decade ago, my daughter Erinn and I opened Kelly’s Bake Shoppe to make healthy living accessible—and delicious. Now, my journey has grown to embrace personal growth, healing, homesteading, and living in harmony with nature.

Gimme that

Mom and I decided to drive to Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health, in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, to bask in a weekend of spiritual love and our quest to go deeper into our lives by bringing in a more mindfulness practice. These retreats are reminders to keep nudging us forward into a more peaceful state and to recognize that everything is happening for us and for our higher good.
The road trip was a ton of relaxing fun and and we got to gab about so much and laugh and dance (well, I got to watch mom dance while driving) to her favourite music. We packed food for the 6 ½ hour trip and we arrived at the retreat centre early enough to check out the tranquil forest, the crystal clear water and the sweet beach.

Erinn’s Perspective – Gabby Bernstein Event
This weekend at Kripalu was absolutely incredible. Gabby Bernstein is one of my favourite authors and leaders and spirit guides – someone I truly look up to for inspiration. Her books have helped me through some very challenging times in my life when I suffered from health problems due to excessive anxiety in my life. This was a few years back and I have Gabby Bernstein to thank for giving me the strength to move through that journey I was on in 2011.  I’m constantly reminded me that I’m always supported by the Universe no matter what may be going on in my life.

What I learned this weekend…
One of the most profound things I took away from this weekend was “the energy you put out will come back to you”. The way Gabby put it was, “whatever you put out into the Universe is a ‘Yes’”. For example, if you constantly tell yourself “I’m sick”. “I’m am too fat”. “I need more money because I don’t have enough”, that’s exactly what the Universe is going to give to you. It breeds the negative chatter in our minds. However, if you say, “I’m healthy”. “I’m beautiful – I am a goddess”. “Money flows easily to me”, that’s the reality you’re going to get.

How can I apply it to my day-to-day life?
The teachings of Gabby can be applied to my life in many ways. Something I’m really going to focus on is deepening my meditation practice. The past few months have been extremely “busy” and my meditation practice has been put on the back burner. Also, over the past few months I’ve realized my anxiety has increased as well. Coincidence? I think not! Meditation is such an incredible practice for a balanced life and one of the biggest gifts I’ve had presented to me over the past few years. Just taking the time to slow down and tune in to the loving vibrations of the Universe is all I need to get be centered again.
Another way to simply apply Gabby’s teachings to your day-to-day life is to be KIND. Plain and simple. When you come from a place of love and kindness to yourself and those around you, you’re connected to the Universe in everyway possible.
Here is our VLOG (“Kelly and Erinn Unplugged”) that we did on the way home from Kripalu. We shared some valuable insight about what deeply inspired us – you don’t want to miss it (Kelly is always entertaining)….XO

Make time to love yourself this summer (try some meditation!) and sprinkle some compassion wherever you go.
